What is a LOLER Thorough Examination?

A LOLER thorough examination is a formal, systematic and detailed inspection of lifting equipment carried out by a competent person at specified intervals. It is a legal requirement and must be documented.

Our engineers check:

  • Structural integrity and general condition
  • Wear, corrosion and deformation
  • Safe working load (SWL) markings and identification
  • Function and operation of safety devices
  • Correct configuration, installation and environment of use
  • Previous reports, defects and records

Following each examination, you receive a written Report of Thorough Examination, including any defects, recommendations and next examination due dates.
