A thorough examination is a formal, systematic check of equipment carried out by a competent person at defined intervals, in line with relevant regulations and standards. It is designed to verify safety and integrity, identify defects before they lead to incidents, confirm equipment is suitable and correctly installed, and provide documented evidence of compliance.

Certex UK carries out thorough examinations under LOLER, PUWER, PSSR and Work at Height Regulations, while working in line with standards such as BS 7121. Where appropriate, we combine examinations across these areas into a single visit or campaign.

Certex UK develops, reviews and maintains WSEs for LOLER equipment—such as complex lifting systems, cranes and service lifts—and PSSR pressure systems, including turbine hydraulic and pneumatic systems. We can create new schemes, update existing ones to reflect changes or ageing equipment, align intervals with maintenance regimes, and store WSEs digitally for easy access, traceability and audit readiness.
