Certex UK awarded the preassembly statutory inspections work for the Thor and East Anglia Three (EA3) offshore wind farms
Certex UK is proud to announce that it has been awarded the preassembly statutory inspections work for both the Thor and East Anglia Three (EA3) offshore wind farms. This achievement strengthens Certex UK's partnership with Siemens Gamesa and reinforces its position as a trusted specialist in wind sector inspection services.
The contract encompasses comprehensive statutory inspections of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations), and PSSR (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations) equipment during the preassembly phase at both sites. These inspections are crucial to ensuring the safety and compliance of the equipment used in the ongoing operations of these significant offshore wind projects.
The Thor wind farm, located off the west coast of Denmark, is one of the largest offshore wind projects in Danish history, boasting a total capacity of 1 GW. This project represents a major milestone in Denmark's renewable energy efforts and is expected to make a substantial contribution to the country's energy supply. Meanwhile, the EA3 project, part of Scottish Power Renewables’ East Anglia Hub, is situated off the coast of Suffolk and will generate up to 1.4 GW of power. This capacity is sufficient to supply electricity to over 1.3 million homes, making it a key component of the UK's renewable energy infrastructure.
Commenting on the contract award, Terry Hoenes, Divisional Manager at Certex UK, said:
“We are delighted to continue supporting Siemens Gamesa on two of Europe’s flagship offshore wind projects. Our dedicated inspection teams have significant experience in offshore wind preassembly, and we look forward to ensuring safe, compliant operations on both Thor and EA3.”
