Our Work

Each project is unique, with requirements shaped by location, usage, and existing infrastructure. From heritage gardens to public play areas, our team works closely with clients to deliver safe, durable, and visually sympathetic rope play solutions.

Clients choose Certex Gloucester for our combination of technical expertise, in-house manufacturing, and responsive service. As part of Certex UK, we operate to strict quality and safety standards while offering the flexibility required for bespoke playground projects.

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens - 36 Metre Burma Rope Bridge

Certex Gloucester was proud to manufacture and supply the bespoke Burma Rope Bridge installed at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, one of the UK’s most iconic horticultural destinations. This 36-metre rope bridge spans the Gardens’ largest pond, creating a striking and immersive crossing that enhances the visitor experience and complements the rich, subtropical planting.

The design takes inspiration from traditional Burma rope bridges, combining strength, flexibility, and an adventurous aesthetic that encourages exploration and play. Carefully engineered and constructed in our Gloucester facility, the bridge was crafted to meet the unique site conditions and integrate seamlessly with the garden’s landscape and pathways.

Working closely with the client, we delivered a high-quality rope structure that not only supports safe, everyday use but also contributes to the visual appeal and character of the Gardens — now enjoyed by visitors of all ages as they discover this remarkable feature from new heights.

Hardwicke Village Park, Gloucestershire

We were contacted by a Gloucester-based landscaping company after they were approached by the county council to replace a damaged space net at Hardwicke Village Park.

To ensure a perfect fit, the existing net was brought to our workshop, where we carefully measured and recreated it to the exact original pattern. This was a challenging project due to the complexity of the net, but through precise measuring and repeated checks, we successfully constructed the replacement within just a few days.

Once complete, the new net was collected and returned to site for installation. After being refitted, it was put through its paces with a hands-on quality check — carried out by our manager’s young daughters — and it passed with flying colours.

Below you can see both the before and after images of the space net we replaced.

Thetford Forest Play Park – Forestry England

We were commissioned by Forestry England to carry out a full refurbishment of one of the play areas within Thetford Forest.

Having previously worked with Forestry England at the Royal Forest of Dean, they approached us again to deliver this larger and more complex project. Due to the scale and technical nature of the rope elements, we carried out a detailed site visit to take accurate measurements and remove the more intricate components so they could be precisely replicated off-site.

All replacement ropes, nets, and bridges were manufactured to match the original designs, ensuring a seamless fit within the existing timber structures. Two weeks later, our team returned to site to install the new equipment.

The refurbishment was completed efficiently, keeping park downtime to a minimum. Forestry England were pleased that the play area was reopened quickly and ready in time for their planned Christmas activities, with the upgraded equipment providing a safe and engaging experience for visitors.
