Small Cords
Stainless steel mini cables
To convert hard and tough stainless steel wires into flexible cords, DAISHIN, has developed a variety of technologies and utilises them in producing high performance products.
Component control
Combinations of wires of different diameters and tensile strengths can produce an almost infinite variation when strength of stranded wires and stranding pitches are taken into consideration.
It is DMC’s unique high-technology that selects the optimum components according to the application from among the enormous variety of combination patterns available.
Nylon coating
This increases cable endurance strength. DMC have developed unique technology for tightly coating hard stainless steel cables with flexible nylon and Teflon. The minimum coating thickness is 0.01mm. The life of coated cables is 5 to 10 times that of bare cables.
Oil impregnation
Application of oil impregnation techniques to nylon coatings sharply increases the endurance strength of cables, prolonging cable life 20 to 50 times that of bare cables. Uniform oil impregnation of entire wires is achieved by DMC’s unique technology.
Others
DMC have developed a technology for achieving virtually zero cable elongation.
Special wires for making high performance cables
Generally, the wires used in stainless steel cables are mainly in the range of 210 to 245 kg/mm2 (2060 to 2400 N/mm2) (JIS). To develop high performance cables, we use wires of 210 to 270 kg/mm2 (2060 to 2650 N/mm2) according to cable application.
Wires of 250 kg/mm2 (2450 N/mm2) or more having high tensile strength tend towards brittleness.
We have developed wires of high tensile strength but which are devoid of brittleness by employing special wire drawing technology, achieving the production of high performance cables.
Chemical composition of wires (JIS G4308)
Two types of stainless steel wires are available for mini-cables; SUS304 and SUS316. Generally, SUS304 wires are used. SUS316 wires are used in applications where para-magnetic properties are required.
