Recommendations for inspection, safe use & maintenance.
Lebus Load Binders
Routinely check Load Binders for wear, bending, cracks, nicks or gouges - If damaged do not use. Routinely lubricate the pivot and swivel points of lever binders, and the pawl part and screw threads of ratchet binders to extend product life and reduce friction wear. Position Load Binder so that it can be operated from the ground the and handle is pulled downwards to tighten the chain. Make sure your footing is secure and move the handle with caution, always keeping yourself out of its path. Do not use a handle extender in conjunction with the Load Binder. If released by hand, use an open hand under the handle and push upward - Do not close your hand around the handle.
Loadfast Ratchet Assemblies
Always ensure that sufficient Loadfast assemblies of the correct type, strength and width are used to secure the load. They should be attached to the anchorage points by suitable fittings. Ensure the sum of the strength of all Loadfast assemblies is at least equal to the load. As a general guide, 1 assembly should be used every 1.5 metre minimum.
Always tighten the securing system in accordance with the instructions, and use anti abrasion sleeves when securing loads. Corner protectors or pads are also recommended. Never tie knots in webbing, either to shorten or join 2 pieces of webbing together. Do not use levers or bars to forcibly tighten the ratchet as this may lead to damage in the ratchet, the webbing and the end fittings. Alterations or repairs to Loadfast assemblies should not be carried out. If a defect or any damage occurs to the assembly, withdraw from service and seek the advice of Certex.
