The team, which included managers, sales staff and warehouse operatives, has already collected over £1,000 in sponsorship for the event and donations are still coming in. This is the second year that the branch has fielded a team and the company hopes to make it an annual event. Antony Brierley, a regional sales representative for Certex, has represented the company two years running: “This is a great event and there is a wonderful atmosphere,” he said. “I did the run because at work I am part of a team and I felt it was important that we should do this together as well. “I also wanted to raise money for Cancer Research. Like many people, I have lost close family members to cancer and I know others that are currently battling against the disease. We all need to do our bit to help.” he added. Other members of the team were Scott Wilcox, Paul Harrison, Karl Brookes, Andy Hand and company director, Charles Gillespie. The Shakespeare County Raceway event, which took place on 23 September, is one of a series of 10K runs taking place across the country this autumn to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Nearly a thousand people joined the run, which was moved at the last minute from nearby Ragley Hall due to concerns about foot and mouth disease. Certex UK – one of the country’s leading suppliers of lifting products and services –has 16 regional branches, including the Birmingham centre at the Gravelly Park Industrial Estate. Its main customers come from within the manufacturing, steel, construction, offshore, oil, gas, port and shipping industries. |
