16/10/02 Lifting gear distributor campaigns to save the Bull Dog!

Companies purchasing lifting gear are facing an unusual request - to help save the British Bull Dog.

Lifting distributor Certex UK has launched an exclusive chain block, known as the Bull Dog, and promoted under the banner S.O.B. (Save Our Bull Dog). Described as a rare beast with extra strength and a durable, baked enamel coat, the product is available only in the UK and comes with its own chain and vice-like grip!

The campaign - which invites purchasers to ‘find the dog a home’ and also involves free Bull Dog merchandise and a prize draw - is the brainchild of Certex Sales and Marketing Director, Charles Gillespie: “We wanted to launch the product in an imaginative way, at the same time emphasising its true strength and durability. The product is unique in that it takes the best features from existing chain blocks and rolls them into one. It is designed to take maximum load with minimum effort and requires surprisingly little headroom.”

Available exclusively to Certex and distributed under the Bull Dog name as a registered trademark, the product is likely to dominate the market because of its lightweight, robust construction and competitive price. The block handles capacities from 500kg to 20 tonnes, and comes with an alloy load chain, fully machined liftwheel, and cast steel safety catches as standard. With units starting at £88, Certex claim it is the strongest and most affordable chain block of its type.

Added features include a fully enclosed gear train, weather protected automatic Western brake with unique Twin Pawls, and galvanised hand chain.

Further products within the Bull Dog range include a lever hoist with capacities of up to 6 tonnes, push girder and geared girder trolleys up to 20 tonnes and girder clamps with a capacity of up to 10 tonnes.
